Prabhjot first contacted me back in February saying he was planning a trip to Dubai to propose to his lady and would I be free to join them on a yacht to capture this moment, of course I would be! I had never photographed a surprise proposal before so I was really excited to be a part of this special occasion.
Parneet is one very lucky lady, not only had Prab meticulously organised a surprise romantic yacht cruise to propose, with rose petals, a lovely bunch of roses and a bottle of fizz, he was also in regular contact with me giving me updates and making sure that all was on track to make this occasion momentous. We had agreed we would combine a couple session with lots of candid shots of them together as well as the actual proposal of course.
The day had arrived, weather was overcast, which from a photographers side was perfect but out at sea meant that we were in for a choppy ride. The crew had advised that it would be likely we would need to wear life vests but they had agreed that during the actual proposal these could be removed briefly. I was feeling pretty nervous at this point, I sent my husband a Whatsapp joking that I was more nervous than Prab! I was so worried I would somehow miss the proposal or not capture the images he was looking for!
I had arranged to meet Prab and Parneet and capture their arrival before the cruise set off, I was playing the part of an on cruise photographer. We boarded and started our journey. Prab had said the boat will be stopping at the Atlantis and I could arrange with the Captain to make sure we were in the best position to capture the landscape during the proposal. This made me more nervous but thankfully boats are a lot more manoeuvrable than I had imagined and we managed to get a great position despite the harsh winds!
I took the couple to the front of the boat and we took some generic shots in front of the Atlantis so that Parneet didn't become suspicious, but in actual fact, Prab was getting himself ready to propose :-)
I took myself back and left him to it :-)
SHE SAID YES!! (of course) and the rest, as they say, is history.
We continued the cruise and I am really happy with the outcome of the photographs, I think I managed to capture their essence perfectly and they will be able to look back at these images smiling and remembering this perfect proposal.
